Hema, who has delivered hits like "Seeta Aur Geeta", "Satte Pe Satta", and "Sholay" in the past, is also toying with the idea of getting into production and returning to direction after almost 17 years.

"I'm planning to start production. I don't want to say much about it because every time I talk about these things, they never happen. It's my desire to make lovely films because I am an artist and a very creative person," she said.

"But filmmaking is not a joke...so many things are involved," she added.

The actress, who had her first stint with direction in 1992 with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Dil Aashna Hai", says she would want to be a liberal producer and not want to impose her ideas on the youth.

The success of Katrina Kaif latest movie ‘New York’.

umbai, July 12 (ANI): Having already given many hit movies, Bollywood actor Katrina Kaif is ecstatic over the success of her latest movie ‘New York’.

The film is based on the 9/11 Twin Towers attacks and it stars well-known actors like John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, and Irrfan Khan in the lead.

“New York was really one of the most special films for me. It is an amazing story and for me it was such a connected film. I really wanted to do the film to do well. I am so happy that it did. Also for director Mr. Kabir Khan; he is really one of the nicest people I know and I really wanted to work for him and I think we all are really happy that it worked….,” said Kaif on the occasion of launch of a jewellery range on Saturday.

Directed by Kabir Khan, ‘New York’ is made on a budget 4.6 million dollars and it revolves round the saga of three friends who live in the city before, during and after the 9/11 attacks.

“New York” puts the spotlight on that aspect of prejudice through the story of Samir (one of the three friends), an American of Indian origin who turns to terrorism after he is picked up by the FBI and brutally tortured for months only because he took some photographs of the twin towers for a school project.

Shah Rukh Khan can now call himself "doctor"

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan can now call himself "doctor" after being honoured in the United Kingdom for his contribution to arts and culture.

Bedfordshire University conferred the doctorate upon him at a ceremony in London on Friday night.

Khan said he aimed to use the award to help educate underprivileged children.

The actor, who has starred in dozens of films, already has his own waxwork at Madame Tussaud's and has previously been honoured in France and Malaysia.

'Top' award

Khan was able to joke about becoming a doctor after frequent surgery in the past few years, most recently on his shoulder five months ago.

"Interestingly my kids don't understand this doctorate and believe I will be awarded a stethoscope," he joked at the degree ceremony.

The star was awarded the doctorate at a top London hotel instead of on university premises north of London because of the summer break.

The university received his nomination from Routes 2 Roots, an NGO that works towards people-to-people contact across the subcontinent, especially India and Pakistan.

Accepting the honour, Khan said he had received numerous awards as an actor but being given an honorary doctorate was the top achievement.

The actor left one of Delhi's top schools with the best student award - but never finished a masters degree.

So how did he feel about receiving the honour?

"I get the feeling that I should further the cause of those underprivileged children who don't get the opportunity to educate themselves,'' he said, quickly adding that he should perhaps begin with his own children who are "highly uneducated as of now".

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar jumped off a 60-foot

Popular for his daredevil stunts, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar jumped off a 60-foot high elevated structure in the capital on Thursday evening to promote his new film Kambakkht Ishq releasing Friday.Clad in a black body hugging full sleeved T-shirt, jeans, sports shoes and shades, the actor played his comic self with the fans and the media before jumping off on the stage.

He talked about his character Viraj Shergill, a Hollywood stuntman in the film, and the importance of women in the lives of men."I'm a typical male chauvinist (in the film)... do you even know who is a male chauvinist? He is one who believes that he is God's gift to women. But I must tell you that if men are from Mars, women are from heaven," said the actor while still standing suspended with wires from a crane at DLF place in Saket.

The 41-year-old then probed the media for questions from the height. "Hi media. Won't you like to ask me anything right now. I've done almost 120 films and I haven't seen such a pc (press conference). Go on, ask what you want. I won't jump before you do."The actor who was last seen in duds Chandni Chowk To China and 8x10 Tasveer also warned his fans not to repeat the stunts shown in films.

"Stunts are amazing but please don't do them... it's way too dangerous. Three months ago, my cousin was trying one of my glass breaking stunts from the film and he ended up with a lot of stitches. Preeti promises to come back with not one but two new releases

But even after getting an entry into Bollywood with a hit film like Mohabbatein, Preeti Jhangiani’s filmi career refused to take off. A slew of debacles followed and the actress settled into matrimony with actor Parvin Dabbas. Ask Preeti who she blames for her inability to make it in films and she says candidly, “I don’t see a point in analysing these things. I can give a variety of excuses like I don’t belong to a filmi family or that I didn’t have a Godfather but I won’t do that. I think every person comes with his or her destiny and I would just put it down to that.”

But now, Preeti promises to come back with not one but two new releases. “I’ve just finished shooting for As The River Flows directed by Bidyut Kotoky. It’s set in Assam and it’s about common people getting caught in the crossfire between the government and terrorists,” she says. Preeti plays a Bengali newspaper editor in this one and in Mono, which is going to be shot completely in London, the actress gets to don five avatars. “That’s because I play an actress who plays five different characters. This is by far the most challenging thing I’ve done,” she adds.

Although Preeti admits that she is not being offered mainstream roles — which she is keen to do — she says that both the films she’s doing are hardcore commercial movies. Is she also worried that the growing competition (Read: Deepika, Asin, Anushka etc) will mean lack of roles for her? “There was competition even when I entered Bollywood, so that doesn’t bother me. I think I have a lot to offer and hopefully, somebody will put their faith in me too. I agree I haven’t reached where I wanted to in my career but thankfully, age is on my side,” she says, putting to rest the pregnancy rumours that have been doing the rounds of late.

She laughs, “It’s ridiculous. Just because I’m married doesn’t mean I’m pregnant too. I want to start my career now, not end it!”

New Delhi, June 1(IANS) Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu was at her sporty best when Bollywood actress Bipasha demonstrated how to ‘fly’ to keep fit using a new gym workout - Jukari Fit To Fly - at an event here Wednesday.The actress is the brand ambassador of Reebok, and was in the capital to introduced the new fitness regime, especially for women. It was launched in association with globally renowned entertainment company Cirque Du Soleil.

Bipasha demonstrated a few exercises along with a fitness expert using the FlySet, which is a special-designed piece of equipment for the workout.“Right now I have just had a small taste of it but yes, when you do an hour-long workout like this, you actually will feel like you are flying. It’s really fun,” Bipasha said after trying it.

“There are a lot of women, and some of my friends too, who don’t like to go to the gym and this kind of a workout is great fun because they will get to join a group class and there will be music.”

“At the end of the day, you’ll feel like a child - you will jump, fly and you can do just about anything. At the same time, there will muscle toning, stretching, lengthening,” Bipasha added.
